Preparing for Your Appointment

Please have this info ready for your initial appointment with an agent:

To start, we’ll need to know this info for each member of your household. A household typically includes legally married spouses and their tax dependents.
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Tobacco use
  • Zip code

What Is Your Household Income?

What Is Your Household Income?

Why it matters: We’ll check to see if you’re eligible for tax credits (subsidies) for a health insurance plan on the ACA Marketplace. Tax credits are based on your modified adjusted gross income (MAGI),* therefore we’ll need an estimate of what your household income will be for the year you’ll be insured (not last year’s income).

*If you’re not sure about your MAGI, you may want to consult an accountant or tax professional.

We also need to know…

What’s Your Current Coverage?

Does anyone have other coverage offered to them such as:

  • An employer-offered insurance plan or an HRA/ICHRA
  • Veteran’s Insurance
  • Medicare
  • Medicaid or CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program)

What Are Your Health Needs?

Why it matters: It’s helpful to know any particular medical, prescription, or mental health needs for your family.

  • Have medication and dosage handy
  • Have the names of your doctors available, to see if they’re in-network with a particular plan.

Budget and Deductible

An idea appropriate budget and ideal deductible amount, is helpful! However if you do not have an idea, that’s something we’ll go over with you.

Dental and Vision Coverage

If you have a dentist or eye doctor that you love, it’s best to find out if they are in-network with any particular insurance carrier. We have many options, so that help can narrow it down.

A few final notes…

For phone appointments, you may want to have a computer available.

If you’re married, it’s helpful to have both spouses present to maximize the use of our time together.

Having all of this prepared in advance will help us make the most of our time together. We will be able to prepare a quote quickly and show you your options.

The Steps to Get Enrolled for 2025

Enrolling in health insurance can be an intimidating and confusing endeavor – we help provide mental health therapy, because you’re going to feel like you need it! Below are the steps to get enrolled for 2025 as quickly and easily as possible…

Why it matters: There are some new requirements for confirming and storing our consumers’ consent and acknowledgement to work on their behalf. Without them completed, we are forbidden from assisting at key points within the enrollment process.

Step 1:

Complete the ACA Consent to Assist Form

We need this form electronically signed and returned before we can even open a renewal file or pull a quote for the first time. It’s basically your name and the date.

Step 2:

Get your quotes, review your options

We’ve put together a compendium of information on each of the plans we’ll show you in a comparison chart side-by side, but if you need additional help or have some questions, please reach out directly by email, text or phone and ask. Let’s get anything in question answered here.
Step 3:

Apply yourself directly -or- Agent-Assisted Application

If we are going to enroll you on your behalf, we’ll just need some personal information to get the ACA Marketplace application done in most cases – ask me for the ‘Encrypted Enrollment’ email, which you can respond to with the information needed. In some cases, additional follow-up information such as Immigration or Citizenship may be needed for clarification.
Step 4:

Complete the ACA Acknowledgment of Eligibility Form

We need this form electronically signed and returned before we can enroll you. After your application is submitted, a Letter of Eligibility is returned from the ACA Marketplace. It states your eligibility to enroll, and also the amount of premium tax credit subsidies you may qualify for monthly based on your family size and projected annual income. If we assist with your application, we’ll send you a PDF of the Letter through email. If you apply yourself, you’ll see it easily. You need to review your eligibility here, and confirm you understand what is presented.
Step 5:

Complete your intial (‘binder’) payment with the Carrier

We’ll be sending you an email after enrollment with specific instructions for the carrier or insurance company you choose. Each one is a little bit different, and payments are made directly to the carrier. Usually the online option is the best, so that you also complete Step 6…
Step 6:

Log in to your online member portal

This is where you can manage your claims, see your EOBs, find valuable member information and other important details about your plan. Several carriers also offer smartphone apps for convenience. Let us know if you have trouble accessing your member portal.
That’s it, you’re done! No joke. Just keep an eye out for any further communication from us.
