Kelan Ross

Kelan was born and raised in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Although she grew up in a one room cabin, without any utilities and far off grid, with a 3 mile ocean commute to the nearest grocery store, she began travelling internationally at the age of 5 with her school and parents, which has continued to be one of her greatest passions. In highschool she traveled to Central America and Asia every year and her favorite memories from that time includes installing a micro-hydro power system for a remote school in northern Thailand, riding an elephant as it ran away from the group and through the jungle, and crewing in a multi day big boat sailing regatta in Malaysia. Her other passions are making visual art, which she was recognized for in highschool with a scholarship, music, dance, and a plethora of outdoor sports. She attended and completed an 8 month herbalism immersion course here in Asheville before pursuing her nursing degree through AB Tech.

After highschool, Kelan attended Oberlin College in Ohio, followed by Warren-Wilson College when she fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains. She has called the Asheville area home since then in 2006. In 2010 she welcomed her first child, and her second in 2014, and lives near Biltmore with them and their 3 adopted dogs. Desiring more time to spend with her children and to show them the world through travel and outdoor experience is what brought her to a new career in life and health insurance at the beginning of 2024. She is passionate about helping people in protecting themselves and their families in a chaotic and quickly changing world.
